SmartCity®’s Web Revalue helps UCF to win Productivity award
Students and staff at
the University Of Central Florida (UCF) have been reloading their
cards with such speed and ease over the web that the Card Services
team have been granted an award for increased productivity and
innovation.
UCF upgraded their
SmartCity® student and staff smart card system last year and added the
Web Revalue feature. This allows cardholders to reload value to their
smart card from a credit, debit or checking account, which can then be
spent at vending machines, restaurants and stores both on and
off-campus. This solution is particularly beneficial to students who
can have value loaded to their card by a parent, at any location
around the world. The value can be placed in a specific purse to
ensure that the funds may only be spent in certain locations such as a
bookstore or restaurant.
The Davis productivity
awards reward state government employees whose work significantly and
measurably increases productivity and promotes innovation to improve
the delivery of state services and save money for Florida taxpayers
and businesses. UCF were selected from 520 nominations for innovations
and productivity improvements worth $292 million in cost savings, cost
avoidances and increased revenue for state government.
Tammy Kidder, Card
Services Manager at UCF is delighted at the success for her team. “Web
Revalue has really offered us huge savings in cost and productivity.
Our Web Revalue team worked closely with SmartCentric to ensure the
smooth upgrade of our SmartCity® system. Both staff and students could
see the increased benefits from day one. We are very pleased with the
results.”
Kieran Timmins, CEO of
SmartCentric, the SmartCity® Company, commented “We are really pleased
for the UCF team. They are consistently working to improve their
student card programs and in particular seek out clear benefits for
the cardholders and the University. This is a great example of how
their innovation creates great success.” |
