SmartCentric Technologies International Ltd (SmartCentric) has announced a new release of SmartCity®, the market leading smart card system, which has been installed in over 90 sites worldwide with over 5 million cards issued.

SmartCity® version 6 offers the full range of SmartCentric’s multi-applications now on contactless cards (RFID). This makes the use of smart cards faster and simpler: by simply tapping a card on a reader the cardholder can purchase goods, gain access to secure areas and even control access to PCs and networks.

A card office now has more options and control over their system than ever. SmartCity® version 6 offers remote data collection giving the best of both worlds for networked areas and remote locations. In addition, there will be a reduced requirement for hardware and a simple deployment and card issuing application. New customer cards, POS terminals, vending machines, servers and applications can be introduced more easily and quickly. All new interfaces are web based making it simple to deploy and operate.
