Software Engineer (Terminal Development) - Dublin

SmartCentric is looking for a software engineer who has strong programming fundamentals, solid experience with industry-standard technologies and who will drive all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from requirements to design to development to test to release to customer deployment.

Responsibilities

• All stages in the software development life cycle to build and deliver SmartCentric’s products and services.

• Develop innovative software using cutting-edge technologies, with an emphasis on payment terminal applications .

• Deliver projects on-time and to specification with an appropriate level of quality.

• Collaborate with marketing managers, sales directors, technical system architect to gather and define requirements.

• Develop and execute functional tests.

• Create customer-relevant documentation.

Note: Travel to customer site may be required.

Mandatory Requirements

• Candidates should have at least 2-4 years of experience in commercial product development using several of the following skills and technologies: 

  • Excellent programming skills

    • C# / C++ / C

  • Experience in developing applications on payment terminals

    • POS, EPOS  (Verifone, Ingenico platforms)

  • Fundamentals of computer science

    • Object-oriented design and design patterns, data structures, algorithms.

  • Development process tools

    • IDE’s, compilers, debuggers, profilers, version control systems, code coverage and testing tools.

• Good interpersonal skills

• Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team

• Must be self motivated

• Track record of delivering to tight and pressurised deadlines.

• Willingness to learn and contribute to on-going improvement.

• Degree in software development, engineering or related discipline.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of Smartcards, Card Management, Cryptography, RFID an added advantage.

• Experience in development using C#

• Knowledge of Microsoft .NET framework and technology

• Knowledge of Internet technologies

  • HTTP, XML / SOAP, XSLT

  • Database design and development and data modelling

    • SQL, XML

  • Experience with several relational databases

    • SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase.
