Graduate Software Engineer - Dublin

SmartCentric is looking for a graduate software engineer who has strong programming fundamentals, a firm understanding of industry  standard technologies and who will contribute to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from requirements to design to development to test to release to customer deployment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all stages in the software development life cycle to build and deliver SmartCentric’s products and services.

• Develop innovative software using cutting-edge technologies as defined by the technical lead, with an emphasis on Microsoft .NET technologies.

• Develop high quality code and associated documentation according to defined processes and standards.

• Use common development tools:

  • IDE, compilers, debuggers, profilers, testing tools and source control system.

• Deliver projects on-time and to specification with an appropriate level of quality.

• Collaborate with technical system architect to refine system design to a lower level of granularity.

• Produce robust code according to the system design that fully meets the functional requirements.

• Develop and execute functional tests. •

• Create customer-relevant documentation.

Note: Travel to customer site may be required.

Mandatory Requirements

• Candidates should have a third level qualification in Computer Applications, Software Engineering or a related discipline

  • Preferably first class or Masters level).

• Candidates should also possess several of the following skills and technologies:

  • Good programming skills in an object oriented language

  • Good understanding of Microsoft .NET framework and technology

  •  Excellent knowledge of Internet technologies

    • HTTP, XML / SOAP, XSLT

  • Good knowledge of database design and development and data modelling

    • SQL, XML.

  • Fundamentals of computer science:

    • Object-oriented design and design patterns, data structures, algorithms.

  • Experience of development process tools

    • IDE’s, compilers, debuggers, profilers, version control systems, code coverage and testing tools.

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Good interpersonal skills

• Must be self motivated and high performing.

• Willingness to learn and contribute to on-going improvement.
